Children around the world commemorated the thirty-sixth ( 36th ) anniversary of the international convention on the << rights of the child >>, celebrated every November 20 of the year.
Locally in the commercial town of Butembo in North Kivu, the Children’s Parliament of Butembo-Lubero and the coordination of student committees brought together students early in the morning of this Thursday, November 20, 2025 at the esplanade of the Tsaka-Tsaka Primary School where students from three schools inthe place in particular:
<< Tsaka-Tsaka, Butembo-town and Mater Ecclesiae Primary Schools >>.
During an exclusive interview that Mr. Kakule Maliro Juresse, the interim president of the Children’s Parliament of Butembo-Lubero gave to RFE1NEWS.ORG ( THE NEWS THERMOMETER ) this Thursday, November 20, 2025 at the end of his meeting with the students, he told us:
<< we chose the Tsaka-Tsaka Primary School as a symbolic title to raise awareness among children. During awareness raising, according to our constant, some children did not know that there is a day dedicated to their memory. And we were motivated to talk to them about their rights and duties as a Child >>, he added.
We, the Children’s Parliament of Butembo-Lubero, noted during our various trips to meet the children that:
<< the rights of the child are not fully respected following several difficulties due to the war which pushes North Kivu children not to fully enjoy their fundamental rights and duties; as the right to life, the right to education and the right to health >>.
Remember that the <> is located near the Cathedral of the Catholic church of the diocese of Butembo-Beni, only hundreds of meters from the ITAV in the commune of Kimemi to the west of the city of Butembo.
